Our Timeline

  • Contract & Deposit

    Our Placenta Encapsulation Contract ensures clear comunication and transparency between our families and Sweet Pea Placentas. We require a $50 deposit upon signing.

  • Paperwork & Payment

    We have a small packet of paperwork we require you to fill out prior to 37 weeks gestation. This covers contact information, delivery location, placenta wishes, and health information.

  • Baby Time

    When you begin labor, notify your Placenta Encapsulation Specialist immediately. Once the placenta has been delivered, notify your PES for prompt pickup. Within 12 hours we will pick up your placenta and begin the encapsulation process.

  • Enjoy!

    Location dependent, you will receive your gift box of your placenta items within one week of delivery. Enjoy those fresh baby snuggles while replenishing your body!

Shipping

While we are local to Central Iowa, we have safe shipping options in place to better serve families all over the United States! We offer a user friendly and affordable shipment option. We offer flexible payment plans to remain accessible to all families.

With our standard shipping option, kits will arrive within 5 business days. You can upgrade to expedited shipping for an additional $50 to guarantee delivery within 2 business days if you desire.

$200 to purchase your placenta collection kit, plus the purchase of your desired the placenta encapsulation package

Once the shipping portion is paid, you have until 37 weeks gestation to pay the remainder balance.

Here is what happens next:

  • We will mail you your placenta collection & shipment kit that will have all the supplies you need to ship us back your placenta. This will include:

    • Shipping Box with prepaid overnight label

    • Ice Packs

    • Cooler

    • Ziplock Bags

    • Leak Proof Container

    • Tape

    • Detailed step by step instructions

    Be sure to ship it back to us within 24 hours to ensure the best quality and safety.

  • When you deliver your baby, take your cooler, Ziploc bags, and the leakproof container with you. Be sure to inform your birth team that you are keeping your placenta, and that it needs to go in the Ziplock’s, then into the leak proof container. If you are delivering in a hospital you may need to sign a release form. Your placenta then needs to go into the cooler with ice, NOT the ice packs provided - those are for shipping.

  • As soon as you can, please freeze your placenta for a minimum of 24 hours. This will ensure it stays as fresh as possible during the shipping process. Make sure your Ice Packs are freezing as well.

    1. Place ice packs and frozen placenta into the cooler

    2. Tape the cooler shut on all sides

    3. Place cooler in cardboard box, tape box shut on all sides

    4. Secure shipping label on box

    5. Take to the nearest UPS store.

    6. For prompt shipping we recommend ONLY dropping off as UPS Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday so it does not get delayed on a weekend.

  • We will receive your package on the next day, and will begin the encapsulation process. Once completed, your package will be overnighted back to you!
